At Good Sam, we are committed to continually growing to better serve our communities. Over the past year, we identified an unmet need: an increasing number of single dads experiencing homelessness and lacking resources. In response, we pivoted to dedicate one of our properties to housing single fathers and their children.

As a single dad facing homelessness, Ramon found relief in Good Sam’s emergency housing, which allowed him to not be separated from his daughter, Ariel. While working toward independence, Ramon struggled to find employment that allowed flexibility for his responsibilities as a parent. Then, something incredible happened. Hopewell United Methodist Church in Downingtown, longtime friends and partners of Good Sam, reached out with a job opportunity that included onsite housing. They asked if anyone in our program was interested in applying. The position was perfect for Ramon’s needs as a single parent. After interviewing, he landed the job and moved into his own housing with his daughter.

Good Sam relies on support from amazing partners like Hopewell UMC to continue making an impact in the communities we serve. You can partner with us this July during our Double Your Good campaign to help neighbors like Ramon and Ariel find stability and hope.

We have a big goal: raising $250,000 in July to continue our important work. The first $75,000 in donations made in July will be MATCHED thanks to generous donors, providing a strong start toward our goal. Also, all new monthly donors will have their total gift amount for the full year matched dollar for dollar!

Together, we can love our neighbors well.
